Management Accountant
Role Overview
The Management Accountant will support the financial management of the business by producing accurate management accounts, maintaining strong financial controls, and providing insight into performance across projects and the wider company. This role combines day-to-day finance responsibilities with strategic reporting and analysis to support decision-making.
What will you be doing?
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting support.
- Maintain and reconcile key control accounts (payroll, VAT, accruals, prepayments, intercompany).
- Manage and update the fixed asset register.
- Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Produce P&L analysis of Control Panel costs.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and external audits.
- Assist with annual budgets and periodic re-forecasts.
- Analyse overheads, margins, and support the Project Accountant on project profitability.
- Prepare and maintain working capital and cash flow forecasts.
- Support project accounting processes and reconciliations.
- Provide project managers with cost reports and financial insights to aid decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards.
- Provide general finance-related administrative support.
What are we looking for?
- AAT qualified or equivalent experience
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Proficiency in financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP/accounting systems is a plus.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to provide insights to support business decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
